Other Biometric Modalities

In addition to the most commonly encountered biometric modalities listed above, many other biometric modalities are either currently in use or in development.

These include: 

• Hand geometry, which uses the shape of hands to determine identity
• Vein, which uses a variety of sensors to measure the unique vein patterns on the palm, back of hand, fingers, eyes, or other areas to verify identity
