Why 2023 Could Be the Year of Biometric Access (Inc.com, Nov 28, 2022)
Biometric authentication is a form of touch-free technology that uses biometric identifiers at building entry points rather than ID cards or access codes, both of which can be stolen. A form of frictionless access control, biometric indicators can reduce the spread of germs and also detect threats by automatically alerting security if an unauthorized individual tries to enter a building, according to access control company Alcatraz A.I. Founded in 2016 in Cupertino, California by Vince Gaydarzhiev, who helped develop the iPhone Face ID feature at Apple, Alcatraz A.I. recently released a set of predictions related to access control in 2023. Interest in "frictionless access control" was already on the rise prior to the Covid-19. Post-pandemic, as businesses look to decrease physical contact while creating easy and efficient ways for workers to enter the office, the adoption of touchless access is expected to grow even faster.

From eID Wallets to Soulbound Tokens: Future-Proofing Digital Identity (FinTechFutures, Nov 28, 2022)

This global transformation has also necessitated consumer identities to move from physical to digital – unique identifiers represented electronically during online interactions that can prove your real identity. This of course created more opportunities for cybercriminals as digital identity theft and fraudulent impersonations have been on the rise, causing a lot of harm to consumers including huge financial losses. The industry is therefore keenly looking at ways to build trusted digital identities that are more secure and fraud-proof as the world moves towards increasing digitisation with Web3.

Galaxy S23 May Feature An Ultra-Bright Display and New Biometrics | Cell (Brytfmonline.com, Nov 28, 2022)

Location SamMobile You think the new component for digital printing could be the Qualcomm 3D Sonic Max, the world’s most advanced for this type of task. It tends to be about ten times faster than the second generation 3D Sonic, which is in Galaxy S21 Ultra and S22 Ultra. The part should also have five times better accuracy and be able to scan an area of 20mm x 30mm, allowing up to two fingers to be used at the same time, for added security. Qualcomm’s new scanner can only record with one touch, that is, it is no longer necessary to place the finger in different ways on the reader until the capture is completed, which will also save the user’s time. However, it should be noted that none of this information has been confirmed by Samsung.

France’s Sports Ministry Rules Out Facial Recognition in 2024 Olympics and Paralympics (The Hindu, Nov 28, 2022)

Minister of Sport Amélie Oudéa-Castéra said that a bill dictating the game’s organisational plan explicitly excludes facial recognition technology from the event, a report by Biometric Update noted.
