the City of Jackson unveiled a new real time command center that uses more than 600 cameras to track crime in the Capital City. The new system is in partnership with Fusus, a software company that allows businesses and the public to connect their surveillance cameras to the system. When a crime happens in Jackson, those in the command center see it in real time, and they send the information to officers.
 

Delta to Introduce First Facial Recognition Option For Domestic Travelers (Travel Pulse, Nov 20, 2020)
Delta Air Lines is partnering with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to launch the first facial recognition option for domestic travelers at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport beginning next month. The touchless experience will work using a digital ID made up of a customer's passport number and TSA PreCheck membership. Travelers will need both to participate but aren't required to opt-in.

In June, IBM’s CEO Arvind Krishna wrote, in a letter to Congress that IBM firmly opposes and condones the use of facial recognition technology for mass surveillance, racial profiling, violations of basic human rights and freedoms. IBM’s withdrawal was followed by Amazon’s announcement of implementing a one-year moratorium on police use of its technology Rekognition. And, later Microsoft announced that it is banning police from using its facial recognition tech until federal regulation is in place.
 

Canada Visa Application Centres To Accept Biometric Enrolments For Select Categories (Outlook, Nov 20, 2020)
Mumbai, Nov 20 (PTI) VFS Global on Friday said it will resume biometrics enrolments for Canada visa applications in select categories, including family and students, across India. Effective November 25, Canada visa applicants who have submitted online applications for family class priority (FCP), spouses, partners and children categories, can enrol biometrics at the Canada visa applications centres in Delhi, Jalandhar, Chandigarh, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and Bengaluru, VFS Global said in a statement.

Houston Airports Implement Facial Recognition Technology For International Travelers To Enhance Speed (KHOU, Nov 20, 2020)
Houston Airports announced a new upgrade for international travelers that officials claim will increase efficiency and decrease touchpoints at Customs and Border Protection checkpoints. The technology is called "Simplified Arrivals" – a camera takes a picture of the arriving international traveler and compares it against a federal database of previously provided photos, such as passport or visa photos. It reduces the need for passengers to provide fingerprints or scan documents.

Dhs Plans To Start Collecting Eye Scans And Dna — With The Help Of Defense Contractors (The Intercept, Nov 20, 2020)
THROUGH A LITTLE-DISCUSSED potential bureaucratic rule change, the Department of Homeland Security is planning to collect unprecedented levels of biometric information from immigration applicants and their sponsors — including U.S. citizens. While some types of applicants have long been required to submit photographs and fingerprints, a rule currently under consideration would require practically everyone applying for any kind of status, or detained by immigration enforcement agents, to provide iris scans, voiceprints and palmprints, and, in some cases, DNA samples. A tangled web of defense and surveillance contractors, which operate with little public oversight, have already begun to build the infrastructure that would be needed to store these records.
