Wisconsin looks to biometrics to fight fraud (ThirdFactor, Feb 23, 2010)
In an effort to renovate a subsidized child-care program overwrought with fraud called Wisconsin Shares, Mark Honadel, a Republican from South Milwaukee, has announced plans to circulate a bill that would require child daycare providers in the state to utilize a biometric system to check children in and out, according to a Security Info Watch article.
 

White House sets up health IT task force (Federal Computer Week, Feb 23, 2010)
By Alice Lipowicz The White House will form an interagency task force to coordinate federal health information technology programs. The task force will be led by the Health and Human Services Department’s National Coordinator for Health IT, Dr. David Blumenthal. It will have officials from the Agriculture, Commerce, Defense and Veterans Affairs departments, the Social security Administration and the Office of Personnel Management, according to a Feb. 19 memo from the Peter Orszag, director of the Office of Management and Budget and HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius.
 

Australia biometric visa program to cost $69 million (ThirdFactor, Feb 23, 2010)
Australia’s Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd, announced that the new electronic visa program in the country will cost roughly $69 million and require citizens from about ten unnamed countries to submit fingerprint samples and an image of their face, according to a Secure Computing article.
